Samsung Odyssey 3D gaming monitor announced at Gamescom 2024

Gamescom 2024 brought with it a bunch of gaming announcements like Indiana Jones, Mafia and many more. And Samsung took the opportunity to introduce its latest gaming monitor called Odyssey 3D at the event. As the name suggests, Samsung Odyssey 3D has the ability to convert 2D to 3D with unique lenses. The laptop is set to make 3D glasses useless.

Samsung Odyssey 3D Specifications and Features

Samsung Odyssey 3D comes in two screen sizes including 27 inches and 37 inches. The monitor can produce an output of up to 4K resolution with a maximum refresh rate of 165Hz. The device can display 3D content without the 3D glasses with the help of Eye Tracking and View Mapping technology that has been used in the production. The Eye Tracking technology tracks the eye movement with the help of a built-in stereo camera. On the other hand, the View Mapping technology adjusts the image to increase depth perception.

According to Samsung, users can also switch between 3D and 2D modes depending on their requirements. The 3D capabilities of the gaming monitor are supported by light field display (LFD) technology. Apart from this, the gaming monitor also gets a 1ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time, coupled with FreeSync Premium technology. Connectivity features offered in the Samsung Odyssey 3D gaming monitor include DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1 ports. For comfortable usage, they have a Height Adjustment Stand (HAS) with tilt function.

So far, Samsung has not confirmed anything about the launch date and price of the Odyssey 3D monitor worldwide. However, it is expected that we will see it for sale by the end of the year. The price of the device is still a secret. It is likely that it will come to the market at a high price.
