Grand Theft Auto fans fear Mafia 4 will affect GTA 6 release

GTA 6 fans are concerned that Mafia 4’s 2025 release could mean GTA VI will be pushed back to next year.

Mafia: The Old Country was revealed at Gamescom and is expected to release during Take-Two’s fiscal year 2026.

Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has stated that GTA 6 is scheduled for a fall 2025 release. But since the two open-world games could be released within close proximity of each other, fans believe there’s a chance GTA could be delayed.

After the announcement of Mafia 4, fans on Reddit began debating whether this would be bad news for their planned vacation to Vice City.

“I don’t really want to cause concern, but I am concerned because if we get a date for Mafia 4 before GTA VI, I’m pretty sure that will give some indication of when GTA VI will come out and if that date is in fall 2025… I don’t even want to say this… but GTA VI might get delayed until 2026,” one player said.

Others in the comments agreed, indicating that they hope the two games don’t influence each other.

“I hope it doesn’t interfere with GTA 6’s release date. I’m looking forward to playing them both,” someone else said.

“GTA 6 is almost certainly getting delayed. The game MUST be perfect. The internet will tear it to pieces if it isn’t,” noted a more pessimistic user. “The problem is that the longer they delay it, the more pressure it puts on Rockstar. It’s a stressful time for everyone involved, that’s for sure!”

GTA 6 chain in GTA Online

GTA 6 is scheduled for release in fall 2025.

However, many players were surprised by the fact that both games are scheduled for 2025 and are convinced that Take-Two would make a huge amount of money either way.

Fans are still eagerly awaiting the second GTA 6 trailer and official gameplay reveal, but leaks have indicated that it could be here before the end of the year.

But considering how long fans have been patiently waiting for a new Grand Theft Auto, it’s not surprising that they’d be upset if a delay were announced.
