Mafia The Old Country changes name in Italy, this is what it will be called

The official announcement of Mafia The Old Country “ended with a bang” the Opening Night Live, welcoming us to Sicily in the early 1900s. However, contrary to what the reveal trailer suggested, the new chapter of the series will not be called “The Old Country” in Italy, but will be marketed under a different name.

The developers at Hangar 13 and the bosses at 2K made the announcement with the opening of the official website for the new video game Mafia, which will be available in 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The perilous journey that awaits us in the infamous lands of Sicily at the beginning of the twentieth century will be reflected in every aspect of the adventure that we will have to live together with our (for now mysterious) alter ego. If the announcement video has allowed us to familiarize ourselves with the atmospheres of The Old Country, it is precisely through the insights published on the sidelines of the ONL that 2K has decided to clarify a key point of its strategy: the new Mafia video game will have a different name in Italy.

As in the previous chapters of the Mafia series, this time too the reference to the criminal organization will not be omitted: the change that the American video game giant has made for the marketing in Italy concerns the “subtitle” chosen to symbolize the return to the origins of this intellectual property.

While in the rest of the world the next Mafia video game will be identified by the subtitle “The Old Country”, which was presented to us on stage during the opening ceremony of GamesCom 2024, in Italy the new interactive odyssey of Hangar 13 will hit stores under the name Mafia: Terra Madre. This decision reflects the concept behind this ambitious project and we are sure that we will find it in every aspect of the gameplay, the story and the content framework set up by 2K to create a dramatic, brutal story steeped in the historical realism that has always imbued this intellectual property.

To find out more, we show you this special, with everything we know about the Italian dubbing of Mafia The Old Country, or, to be precise, of Mafia Terra Madre.
