Garner man charged in child exploitation case, police say

Police arrested a Garner man Thursday on charges of sexually exploiting a minor.

According to Garner police, police officers, State Bureau of Investigations detectives and Homeland Security agents searched an apartment on the 900 block of 7th Avenue.

According to police, the search was related to an ongoing investigation into child exploitation.

Following the search, authorities arrested 36-year-old Geoffrey Craig Hightower and charged him with 10 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Authorities did not provide further details, but said the investigation was ongoing and they would release more information later.
