A video of policemen being killed in an attack by bandits in Rahim Yar Khan, a town in Punjab region, is circulating on social media.

The video shows the officers discussing the possibility of their martyrdom just before the attack.

The video, which is circulating on various social media, was recorded just before the policemen were killed in a rocket attack by robbers in the Kacha area.

In the footage, an officer can be heard jokingly saying to his colleague: “Abrar, take this gun, it looks like our last moments have come,” referring to the possibility that he will die a martyr’s death.

The officers, who were on their way to carry out their duties in the Kacha area, were also reported to have said that the place they were going to is so dangerous that “no one would dare to go there even during the day”.

It is noteworthy that the officer seen in the video, Abrar, was seriously injured in the rocket attack by the robbers last night.

The Punjab Police on Friday announced that the main suspect behind the deadly rocket attack on police in Rahim Yar Khan’s Machka area was killed in a retaliatory attack.

The attack, which took place in the River Kacha area, left 12 police officers dead.

The region, notorious for its organized crime gangs, has long been a hotbed of kidnappings for ransom. Such gangs have been active in the riverine areas of southern Sindh and central Punjab for decades.

According to police sources, about two dozen police officers were stationed at Machka Camp 2 in the river area.

They were returning to Rahim Yar Khan for their weekly holiday in two police vans when one of their vehicles broke down due to stagnant flood waters in the area.

Seeing policemen trapped in the rainwater, the river thieves fired missiles at the police party, killing 15 of them. Two policemen were injured in the attack and four were missing.

Punjab Inspector General Dr Usman Anwar confirmed to local media that both Punjab and Sindh police had launched a coordinated operation in the area, with 320 personnel from Punjab and additional troops from Sindh on the ground.

Twelve officers were killed in the attack, which targeted two police cars in Machhka.
