Oconomowoc Man Charged With 23 Crimes, Including 10 Counts of Possession of Child Pornography | Waukesha Co. News

WAUKESHA — Bail was set at $250,000 Wednesday for an Oconomowoc man charged with 23 felonies, including second-degree sexual assault of a child, exposing a child to harmful material, possession of child pornography and sexual exploitation of a child.

Police say Daniel Hait, 63, used hidden cameras to film children at homes he owned in New Berlin and Delafield. A search warrant was executed on Aug. 13 at the Delafield residence. Hait’s iPad was found in the home, the complaint said, and he gave detectives the code to unlock the device.

Ten videos of an exposed child from 2021-2023, when the victim was between the ages of 15 and 17, were recovered by police and listed in the complaint. The complaint adds that “multiple other images and videos were included in this download.”

Another victim told police that Hait sexually abused him between 50 and 100 times, starting when the victim was 9 or 10 years old and continuing until he was 18. A third victim reported finding two hidden cameras in Hait’s home when that victim was a teenager.

Hait faces fines of up to $100,000 and 40 years in prison for the charge of second-degree sexual abuse; $10,000 and 3.5 years for the charge of exposing a child to harmful material; $100,000 and 25 years for each of 10 counts of possession of child pornography; and $100,000 and 40 years for each of 11 counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
