Invictus Task Force operation leads to 5 arrests for minor sex crimes in Piedmont Triad

PIEDMONT TRIAD, NC (WGHP) — Five men are facing charges related to sex crimes involving minors, the Invictus Task Force reports.

The Invictus Task Force is a “joint effort of federal, state and local law enforcement to combat cybercrime against children, sexual abuse, human trafficking and child exploitation.” Randolph, Forsyth, Alamance and Davidson counties make up the local ITF.

Each man was charged separately. The crimes are not connected.

On June 28, the ITF produced a search warrant after receiving a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Jadyn Cina Patterson, 19, was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree exploitation of a minor. He was taken to the Forsyth County Detention Center and held on $50,000 bond. Between July 17 and August 14, an ITF undercover operation uncovered enough evidence to charge James Forrest Scruggs, 55, with the felony count of computer solicitation of a child. He was booked into the Forsyth County Detention Center and given a $25,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact FCSO ITF representatives.

On July 23, the ITF conducted an investigation based on a cyber tip from NCMEC. Kenneth Holloway, 29, was arrested on July 31 and charged with 10 counts of second-degree exploitation of a minor. He was booked into the Forsyth County Detention Center and given a $350,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing. On August 15, the ITF and the Randleman Police Department conducted an investigation based on a cyber tip from NCMEC. Gary Michael Shipwash Jr., 51, was arrested on August 20 and charged with two counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was taken to the Randolph County Detention Center and booked on $30,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing. On August 21, the ITF and Thomasville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division conducted another search based on a cyber tip from NCMEC. Charles Kevin Seech, 51, was arrested and charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a minor. He was taken to the Davidson County Detention Center and booked on $250,000 bond.
