Images of Child Sexual Abuse – Arrest: R24-38709

In August 2024, the Winnipeg Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) was notified by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) after they intercepted an international package destined for an address in Winnipeg. The package contained a sex doll anatomically designed to resemble a pre-pubescent child.

With the assistance of the Counter Exploitation Unit, detectives began an investigation. As a result, on August 21, 2024, a search warrant was executed at the residence of an adult male in the Silver Heights area. Numerous items, including several electronic devices, were seized. With the assistance of the Technological Crimes Section, a forensic analysis of these devices is pending.

The man was arrested on suspicion of showing images of child sexual abuse.

Information provided to investigators revealed that the man had imported similar items and children’s clothing between December 2022 and August 2024.

On August 21, 2024, a 41 year old man of Winnipeg was arrested and charged with the following offences:

– Possession of child pornography

– Imports, distributes, sells or possesses for the purpose of distribution

– Making, printing, publishing or possessing child pornography for the purpose of publication

He is still in custody at this time.
