Town Hall Meeting to Discuss Human Trafficking in Slate Belt Region | Lehigh Valley Regional News

LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa – Bloom for Women has announced they will be holding a summit on human trafficking in partnership with several local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

The event, focused on human trafficking in Pennsylvania’s Slate Belt region, is scheduled for September 12 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Look Out Fire Company in Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania.

Bloom for Women is a safe space and empowerment organization for female survivors of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. Bloom offers emergency care, a two-year residential program, pregnant survivor services, and an independent living program in the Lehigh Valley area of ​​Pennsylvania.

“The Slate Belt Regional Police Department, in collaboration with our local, state and federal partners, recognizes that human trafficking is an issue of grave concern to communities across the Commonwealth and nationally,” said Jonathan Hoadley, Chief of Department. “The Slate Belt Regional Police Department supports information sharing with the community to provide both recognition of human trafficking and the sharing of available resources for victims of these crimes.”

Pen Argyl Mayor Stephen Male will emcee the event and speakers include Chief Hoadley, Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent in Charge Patrick Jochum and Bloom for Women CEO Carol Andersen.

Representatives from the Pennsylvania State Police and local law enforcement agencies will also be present.

Speakers are expected to discuss what human trafficking is, how to recognize the signs of human trafficking in our community, what is being done and can be done to combat human trafficking, and provide valuable information.
