Why Mafia: The Old Country’s Setting Could Be Exactly What the Franchise Needs

Nearly eight years after the release of the third game, Mafia: The Old Country, the fourth installment in the series, has finally been revealed. A short teaser trailer has revealed that developer Hangar 13 has decided to go in a new direction with the game’s setting. Rather than continuing the series’ timeline by moving into the 1970s and beyond, Mafia: The Old Country will be set in the early 1800s and feature a story woven around the birth of the Mafia in Sicily. This change of pace could prove to be a smart move, and just what the series needs.
