Teenage girls arrested for robbing hotel room in Limassol

The Limassol District Court has ordered that a 16-year-old girl be detained for five days, while a 15-year-old girl must remain in pre-trial detention for six days.

Both suspects were arrested on Friday. Police are looking for three more people in connection with the incident.

The trial was conducted on camera. Police sources indicate that both girls deny involvement in the robbery and have made several claims that are currently being investigated.

According to the victim’s statement, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening. The 64-year-old man reported that a 16-year-old girl, whom he had recently met through the 15-year-old suspect, visited him in his hotel room and invited him to dinner.

The complainant alleges that after visiting a fast food restaurant, the girl led him to an area behind the establishment, ostensibly to meet the 15-year-old. At around 11:30 a.m., a vehicle arrived containing the 15-year-old and three other youths – a girl and two boys.

The victim claims that one of the boys attacked him with spray and hit him in the face. He reported that he was knocked to the ground and beaten, after which his wallet with €5,000 and his ID were stolen.

After the alleged attack, the 16-year-old girl who had accompanied the man reportedly fled with the other individuals. The victim was taken to Limassol General Hospital, where he was treated before being discharged.

The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department, in collaboration with the Vulnerable Persons Department, stated that their investigation so far has not revealed any evidence of sexual exploitation of the complainant by the minors.

The two girls in custody are being investigated for complicity in a crime and theft.
