TDP MLA threatens eenadu reporter

Although elected by the people as their representatives, some seem to forget the reality and behave in an arrogant manner, undermining the spirit of democracy and the constitution.

In one such incident, Srikalahasti TDP MP Bojjala Sudhir Reddy showed the ugly side of his character and started threatening an Eenadu reporter from his area if he reported against him.

Telugu daily Eenadu published a report revealing that some political leaders were illegally collecting Rs 500 per tractorload of sand lifted from Vikrutamala and Munagalapalem in Erpedu mandal, Tirupati district.

As per the policy of the TDP government, sand is currently supplied free of charge to consumers and contractors, but the MLA collects charges for supplying sand.

When Sudhir Reddy came to know about the reports published against him, he threatened dire consequences if the Eenadu reporter wrote anything against him.

“Thaata teesta.. emanukuntunnav?” he angrily told the reporter.

“This is my last warning to you. Did you not know about the sale of sand during the YCP government? Do you remember everything now? Be careful. If I find anything against me in your newspaper from now on, that will be the end of your story,” the MLA said, as reported by Eenadu.

The Eenadu reporter said the MLA did not allow him to explain the facts and background of the reports.

The YCP government suffered a humiliating defeat in the recent state assembly elections due to misgovernance and poor policies. Frustrated by the YCP leaders’ rampant corruption and nepotism, the people voted against the YCP and ensured that it was thrashed.

If the same things repeat themselves under the TDP rule too, what kind of signals would it send to the people? In this backdrop, it remains to be seen how TDP supremo and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would react to the MLA’s lapse, as it could bring the government into disrepute.
