Mafia: The Old Country doesn’t wrap up Gamescom until 2024, so you won’t see many more games and fuhgeddaboudit

Look, we know, it’s a horrible headline. Anyway, Mafia: The Old Country was just announced at the end of Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024 and is scheduled for release in 2025.

The next game in the Mafia series got a nice teaser trailer, featuring lots of wine, guns, oil paintings, and chatter about bad things that happen when you don’t stick with a family. Yeah, those of us who love The Godfather so unashamedly that they write unhinged articles about indie games seem to be in for a treat here.

“Discover the origins of organized crime with a gritty mafia tale set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily,” reads the plot description in an accompanying 2K press release. “Fight to survive in this dangerous and ruthless era, with action brought to life by the authentic realism and rich storytelling that the critically acclaimed mafia series is known for.”

“Throughout the first three installments of the Mafia franchise, we’ve introduced players to the world of the mafia through gritty stories set across different time periods,” added Nick Baynes, President of Hangar 13. “In Mafia: The Old Country, we’re going back to the roots of what fans love about the franchise. We’ve created a deep, linear story with that classic mafia movie feel, we’re visiting a stunning new environment, and we’re delivering it all in a tight, focused package that’s perfect for fans of immersive experiences.”

Mafia: The Old Country is coming to PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 in 2025, and the teaser suggests we’ll see more of it in December. Meanwhile, 2K says that all released games in the Mafia series will be available for purchase on Steam until September 2.
