Boxer accused of rape – Pattaya One News

A Kyrgyz boxer who was in Phuket for training has been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing a sauna employee.

On August 24, officers from Chalong Police Station in Phuket arrested 28-year-old Mr. Sultan, a Kyrgyz national, in connection with the alleged rape of a female spa worker in Moo 3, Chalong Sub-district, Mueang Phuket District. Mr. Sultan turned himself in to police after being approached by authorities.

The incident was reported on August 21 by Ms. A, a 19-year-old employee of the spa, who claimed that the assault occurred on August 18 at 1:00 p.m. Mr. Sultan had come to the spa to use the ice bath service. After Ms. A had prepared the ice, she went back to sit at the counter in the shop. Later, at around 5:00 p.m., Mr. Sultan told her that he was done using the room. When she went to turn off the gas, he followed her and began sexually harassing her, attempting to rape her but failing. Before leaving, Mr. Sultan typed into the Google Translate app, “Can’t continue due to back pain, come back the next day,” and instructed her, “Don’t tell anyone.”

Following the incident, Ms A reported the incident to the police, prompting forensic staff to collect evidence from the crime scene. Mr Sultan was subsequently summoned to the police station, where he was informed of the charges and his fingerprints were collected for prosecution.

Under Article 276 of the Thai Penal Code, anyone who has sexual intercourse with another person by means of threats, violence, exploiting a situation in which the person cannot resist, or mistaking the person for someone else, risks a prison sentence of four to 20 years and a fine of 80,000 to 400,000 baht.

Interestingly, on August 24, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Kyrgyz suspect was still posting photos of himself boxing as usual.
