SCOTLAND: Drag queen who co-authored ‘Trans Youth’ guide for LGBT charity jailed for distributing videos showing sexual abuse of newborn babies

A Scottish drag queen who co-authored a guide for ‘trans youth’ for a major LGBT charity has been convicted of distributing child pornography. Andrew Easton, from Kennethmont, Huntly, was spared an immediate prison sentence despite knowingly communicating with a 13-year-old boy online and asking him for indecent images.

Easton, 39, pleaded guilty in court this month to communicating online with someone he believed was a child, downloading indecent images of children and distributing indecent images of children. The sexual abuse material, which included images and videos, featured newborn babies, toddlers and pre-pubescent children. Easton was first caught by Scotland’s National Online Child Abuse Prevention (NOCAP) unit in an operation in September 2023 that identified his IP number. Police subsequently obtained a search warrant and raided Easton’s home.

In a Telegram chat labeled “Extra Excitement,” Easton collected 132 images and 1,119 videos featuring newborn babies and children up to the age of 10. Police discovered that Easton also had a chat log with a user claiming to be 13 years old; Easton referred to the user as “baby boy” and sent him pictures of his genitals. He also asked the user to call him “daddy.”

Easton appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on August 13 and did not deny downloading and sharing child pornography. However, despite his admission, he avoided jail and was instead sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid community service and three years’ supervision.

Easton was sentenced by Sheriff Morag McLaughlin, who told the court that Easton’s crimes “do not quite meet the threshold for a prison sentence.”

Although news of Easton’s conviction first broke on August 13, interest in his case has been renewed after journalist Marion Scott revealed that Easton had previously worked with LGBT Youth Scotland. The charity was exposed by Reduxx in 2022 for participating in the alleged sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of two underage boys who used their services.

According to Scott, Easton co-authored the charity’s ‘coming out guide’ for ‘trans young people’, which was distributed to state schools across the country and is still available on East Ayrshire Council’s website. The guide, which LGBT Youth Scotland services heavily promote, ‘looks at the different stages of the coming out process’ in a young people-friendly tone, presenting different scenarios and considerations for minors interested in changing their gender identity.

At the end of the document you will find a photo of Easton and the other co-authors of the guide.

Although Easton has deleted most of his social media profiles, he also admitted on his now-deleted Facebook that he had raised money for the government-funded organization, claiming that their “mission means a lot to (him).” He also allegedly ran a small X account where he called himself “Annabelle Ende” and dressed as a drag queen.

On his prolific GoodReads account, Easton expresses a particular interest in homoerotic fiction—with many of his favorite titles focusing on sexual relationships between teenage boys, or teenage boys and adult men. In one, a 14-year-old boy develops an incestuous relationship with his uncle.

Worryingly, Easton is not the first paedophile to be confirmed as having a connection to LGBT Youth Scotland. In 2009, the charity’s then CEO, James Rennie, was found guilty of running the country’s largest paedophile ring and sexually abusing his friends’ baby, whom he had cared for from the age of three months. The charity has never been investigated by police.

The Scottish government and police were criticised for failing to investigate LGBT Youth Scotland following the trial of former CEO Rennie. The organisation meanwhile issued a press release following the 2022 trial Reduxx expose, without claiming that anything went wrong.

“For clarity, and contrary to commentary online, there has been no police investigation into recent media allegations against LGBT Youth Scotland or any of our staff or volunteer team. As a matter of good practice and in line with our internal policy, we also conducted an internal investigation into the allegations and any safeguarding processes in place at the time of the allegations. We found no evidence of a failure to safeguard,” the statement said.

Sam Cowie, a young man who previously told Reduxx he was manipulated and exploited when he gained access to LGBT Youth Scotland, has expressed his outrage at the latest news about Easton. Cowie told X the charity should finally be dismantled by the government.

“The Scottish government continues to fund an organisation that had a paedophile CEO, who had staff manipulate me and now @ladymcbeth2 has revealed that ANOTHER paedophile worked with them following the James Rennie scandal. LGBTY people must #defundLGBTYS,” he posted.

According to Police Scotland, there were 5,066 registered sex offenders (RSO) in communities across the country as of January 2024. Names of registered offenders are not published to protect their anonymity.

According to the police website: “RSOs are robustly managed by the police and our partners through the Multi-agency public protection arrangements, and are subject to extensive risk assessment and community risk management. Police Scotland has units of dedicated officers who are specially trained for this task.”

LGBT Youth Scotland had not responded to a request for comment at the time of publication.
