Members of civil society, community organisations and market associations from various bazaars in Jammu city and its surroundings actively supported Team Jammu by helping the organisers and even participated in the rally.
Team Jammu volunteers, including members of Bull Riders Motorcycle, Survivor Hill Riders and Himalayan Bulls Adventure Clubs, rode their bikes to Toph Sherkhania Bridge on Akhnoor Road this morning. The cyclists carried tricolour flags and moved in the form of a mega bike rally led by Team Jammu Chairman Zorawar Singh Jamwal.
The rally passed through AG office, Shakti Nagar, Rajpura Mangotrian, Rehari, Sarwal, Mian Deedo Chowk, Shakuntala Crossing, KC Crossing, Bus Stand, Jewel Chowk, GGM Science College and SPMR Commerce Road, Talab Tillo, Gole Pully, Gole Gujral Crossing, Patta Chungi, Akhnoor Road and finally ended near Toph Sherkhania Bridge.
Addressing the gathering, Zorawar Singh Jamwal asked the J&K administration and police to take stricter action against the drug menace in the region, failing which the people of Jammu would take immediate action against those selling the poisonous drugs. He appealed to the LG administration to fulfill its promise to deal with drug peddlers with an iron fist.
Zorawar also stressed that the UT administration should build more infrastructure like open and covered stadiums and promote sports activities in every district of J&K so that the youth remain physically fit. Besides, he added, the police should set an example by exposing black sheep in its organisation who are involved with drug barons and develop a mechanism to block all drug trafficking routes to thwart all attempts of the drug mafia, which is out to ruin the lives of the younger generation.
