Sicily bans sale of mafia souvenirs

Long associated with the murderous exploits of the Cosa Nostra organised crime network, Sicily is now cracking down on the sale of mafia memorabilia in an attempt to end negative stereotypes.

Island authorities say T-shirts and mugs featuring Marlon Brando as Don Vito Corleone are out The godfather and trinkets ridiculing the bloody feuds of the Sicilian mafia tarnish the island’s reputation.
