oh there is strange news everywhere… like in Haiti, they called the Kenyan police through the UN… they saw the situation and went back to the airport, where it is safe. I am not lying to you. Now MRAPs are being delivered

The Kenyans’ first order of business was to fight violent gangs that control 80% of Haiti’s capital

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, gangs have left more than half a million Haitians homeless in recent years and approximately 1.6 million people are at risk of starvation due to the level of violence.

The violence worsened earlier this year when gangs launched coordinated attacks in late February, opening fire on the main international airport, storming more than two dozen police stations and breaking into Haiti’s two largest prisons, freeing more than 4,000 inmates.

The Kenyans’ arrival marks the fourth major foreign military intervention in Haiti. While some Haitians welcome them, others view the troop deployment with caution, as the previous intervention — the 2004-2017 UN peacekeeping mission — was marred by allegations of sexual abuse and the introduction of cholera, which killed nearly 10,000 people.

The Haitian National Police (PNH) received Toyota armored vehicles ordered by the government of Ariel Henry from the United Arab Emirates in October 2023.

Additionally, the U.S. Army Southern Command announced in a statement that on Friday, August 23, 2024, it began delivering the first of 24 additional MaxxPro MRAP Mine Resistant Ambush Protected armored vehicles to the Kenya-led mission via U.S. Air Force C-17 cargo aircraft. These vehicles complement the existing fleet of 10 MaxxPros already delivered by the United States to the mission, which are being used to support HNP operations in areas affected by widespread gang violence.
