Kangana Ranaut talks about hatred and jealousy in Bollywood: ‘People like Karan Johar and Ketan Mehta told me to leave the industry’

Kangana Ranaut has had an interesting journey in Bollywood. With films like Fashion, Queen, Tanu marries ManuAnd Manicarnikaamong other things, she proved her acting talent. However, her journey has not been without struggles and controversies. Often, the actress speaks her mind, but she does not always get a good response. In a new interview with entertainment news portal Dainik Bhaskar, Kangana Ranaut was asked about her initial days in the film industry. Kangana spoke about how she moved to Mumbai in 2004 and faced numerous failures before finding success. Her first film released in 2006 and she struggled for the next 8-10 years. In 2014, she was finally recognised as a successful actress, but this success came with its own set of challenges. She recalled how people initially saw her as a talented but underutilised actress and often labelled her as a ‘bechari’. However, once she found success in 2014, the narrative changed and she started receiving criticism. People started saying that she came from a small village and did not deserve the success she had achieved. Ranaut stated that some people accused her of being unprofessional and having problems despite her long years of struggle. The Panga actress also spoke about the personal issues she faced during this period. Kangana Ranaut revealed that people she broke up with years ago sent her legal notices, falsely claiming that they had had affairs with her. Ranaut also faced pressure from industry figures like Ketan Mehta and Karan Johar, who reportedly told her to leave the industry. Kangana pointed out that if someone is truly problematic, it would be obvious from the beginning and not something that comes to the fore only after a few years. She highlighted how the film industry is filled with jealousy and hatred, and cited the tragic case of Sushant Singh Rajput as an example of how careers can be destroyed. Finally, Kangana Ranaut shared her thoughts on the dark side of success. She noted that people prepare you for failure but rarely talk about the challenges of success. According to Kangana, success can be so overwhelming that it can make life difficult, to the point where one might even consider committing suicide. The actress said that the side effects of success are rarely discussed.
