NDLEA busts cocaine smuggling gang in Lagos, Onitsha – Radio Nigeria Lagos

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested three Onitsha businessmen involved in a cocaine trafficking ring.

The suspects, Ibeanusi Solomon Nosike, Paul Okwuy Mbadugha and Aligbo Chukwudi Jacob, were arrested during separate operations at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and at their base in Onitsha, Anambra State.

In a statement, NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said Ibeanusi was arrested on August 8 when he attempted to board an Abuja-bound flight en route to Vietnam.

He added that after a 12-day observation period, he excreted 68 wraps of cocaine, weighing a total of 1.282 kilograms, while Mbadugha, who was also en route to Vietnam, was arrested on August 12 and excreted 88 wraps of cocaine, weighing a total of 1.710 kilograms.

In another operation, Aligbo was arrested on August 17 after he intercepted a 1.20kg consignment of cannabis bound for Dubai. The package, concealed in a courier consignment, was traced to Aligbo’s residence in Onitsha.

The NDLEA has commended its operatives for their vigilance and dedication in dismantling the drug trade.

The agency has pledged to remain committed to combating drug trafficking and protecting the country’s youth from the harmful effects of illicit substances.
