Swedish social services tried to keep young Swedes arrested in Denmark away from criminal gangs

The Danish police have had to deal with a number of violent incidents involving criminal gangs.

• A number of Swedes held by police in Denmark on suspicion of committing or attempting to commit violent crimes on behalf of criminal gangs in the country have previously been the target of various interventions by Swedish social services and other authorities.

• Despite these efforts, young people are still being recruited by criminal gangs, according to research by Swedish Radio.

• “Said”, the father of one of the youths now arrested for attempted murder, had previously contacted the Swedish Social Services for help.
