Local Fox reporter arrested on child pornography charges

Columbia’s NBC affiliate reports:

According to the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office, Matt Vereen, 28, was arrested Wednesday and taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Vereen was charged with three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor: two counts of second-degree assault and another count of third-degree assault.

Arrest warrants allege child abuse material involving an underage girl was found on his Apple laptop during a search of his home Wednesday. WACH FOX 57 reported Friday that Vereen has been suspended.

Alvin S. Glenn Bond Court confirmed that Vereen was given a $40,000 cash bond. The conditions of his bond include no personal internet access, no social media use outside of work, and no contact with a minor without adult supervision.
