DSWD Speaks Out on Quiboloy Case

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Monday issued a ruling on the case against fugitive evangelist Apollo Quiboloy, saying it is committed to protecting those who cannot protect themselves, especially minors who are victims of abuses such as human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

“As the agency charged with protecting the welfare of the most vulnerable in our country, the DSWD cannot remain silent in the face of the serious charges against Mr. Apollo Quiboloy,” the department said in an official statement on Monday.

“The allegations of human trafficking, sexual exploitation and abuse of minors strike at the heart of what we stand for: protecting those who cannot protect themselves,” the statement said.

According to the DSWD, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has repeatedly expressed his sincere concern over the suffering of innocent people.

“The President speaks for many of us when he says that nothing is more painful than seeing a child in need, in pain or without hope. It is the same pain that drives our work at the DSWD,” the department said.

The report said it was “particularly heartbreaking when prominent figures who should be champions of justice and protectors of the defenceless choose to trivialise these heinous acts or identify with those accused of such horrific crimes.”

“We must never forget that behind every case are real children, real mothers, and real families who are suffering, and the DSWD stands with these victims,” the DSWD said in a statement.

“We are committed to ensuring that they get the justice they deserve and that their voices are heard,” the report said.

In particular, the ministry urged all leaders and individuals to support legal processes aimed at protecting innocent people and bringing offenders to justice.

“We fully support President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in his quest to create a better future for every Filipino child, where no one is left behind or suffers alone,” the DSWD statement concluded.
