Tough-talking Vindman slams ‘free speech absolutists, weirdos,’ says Elon Musk should be ‘nervous’ American Wire News

Retired Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman’s harsh language against Elon Musk and “’free speech absolutists,’ weirdos” earned him a dressing down as “such a good little communist.”

In the latest example of X’s unparalleled status as the city’s central square, the Democratic Party propagandist best known for testifying against then-President Donald Trump during his impeachment trial abused the platform to turn against X and its owner.

Following the arrest of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov, Vindman suggested the world’s richest man might want to look over his shoulder when he wrote: “Musk should be nervous.”

“While Durov is a French citizen & has been arrested for violating French law, this has broader implications for other social media outlets including Twitter. There is a growing intolerance for platforming disinfo & malign influence & a growing hunger for accountability,” he posted while sharing a thread alleging Durov had worked with the Kremlin. “Musk should be nervous.”

According to reports, the 39-year-old billionaire was arrested after landing in France. Authorities alleged that the encryption capabilities of the messaging app Telegram made the app complicit in criminal activities, including conspiracy, drug trafficking and pedophilia.

Musk himself weighed in when a contrast was suggested between himself, Durov and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, noting the latter, “Already bowed to censorship pressure. Instagram has a huge child exploitation problem, but no arrest for Zuck because he censors free speech and gives governments backdoor access to user data.”

He had also posted shortly after Vindman: “It is vital to supporting free speech that you forward X messages to people you know, especially in countries with heavy censorship.”

Yet despite the strong arguments for his position, the retired lieutenant colonel doubled down on Sunday, mocking First Amendment advocates and using the amendment to level serious accusations against Trump.

“These MAGA tech bros ‘free speech absolutists,’ weirdos who say they’re a platform that has no responsibility to moderate content at all, are really triggered. France took action against the founder of Telegram for running a platform that facilitated all sorts of criminal activities, including child pornography,” he said, before voicing his support for censorship and suppression across Europe. “The EU has been increasingly strict in enforcing content rules on social media platforms. Enforcement is only likely to increase.”

Vindman took Trump to task, adding, in contrast to a critic who posted, “Sic Semper Tyrannis, you authoritarian scum,” “Maybe you should be more concerned about the fact that your candidate for POTUS is a sexual predator with well-documented ties to Jeffrey Epstein.”

Like Durov, Vindman accused Musk of colluding with Russian President Vladimir Putin, despite his extensive efforts to support the people of Ukraine through the deployment of Starlink, saying: “Russian oligarchs, from (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s inner circle who are financing Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, should be maximally controlled. Twitter has since turned into a cesspool of disinformation. Seems like a classic active measure, co-opting media to spread disinformation. Why isn’t (Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States) involved.”

In return for his efforts, Vindman was given the chance to experience absolute freedom of speech firsthand, as social media users voiced their opinions about people trying to dictate what they could and could not say.
