Myrtle Beach man charged after being accused of traveling to Charleston for underage sex

A Myrtle Beach man was arrested Saturday, Aug. 24, and charged with multiple counts related to child sex crimes, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said.

Bryant Keith Moorefield, 60, is charged with attempted second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, attempted first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and four counts of criminal exploitation of a minor, online jail records show.

Affidavits allege that on February 21, 2024, Moorefield began an online conversation with someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl. The minor was an undercover persona, the affidavits said.

Moorefield was arrested Saturday after traveling from Myrtle Beach to Charleston with the intent to perform sex acts on a 14-year-old girl, officials said.

Moorefield was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center. He was given a $260,000 bond during a hearing on Sunday, August 25.

Jail records show he has since posted bail.
