Conley: Lifelong Republican Responds to Lifelong Republican Vote for Gallego

Following Sam Campana’s letter published in the Independent Daily on August 23, 2024, I cannot simply sit back and let it go unpunished.

I have been a Republican for over 60 years. I have also served in Washington State for over 20 years as an elected nonpartisan running for office in the general election. I currently serve on several boards in Sun City. My wife served in the Washington State Legislature for eight years as a conservative Democrat.

I have to disagree with Ms. Campana. You would think that the only issue in the upcoming election would be abortion, but according to the Supreme Court ruling, this is a state issue, not a federal issue.

We have big problems for our country and for all of us. Ruben Gallego supports the Biden/Harris administration that has allowed millions of illegals to cross our border, pushed fentanyl through the drug cartels, and increased crime in the US.

We also have uncontrolled wasteful government spending that causes inflation and skyrockets the cost of everything. We cannot allow these problems to continue and have a free and safe country.

Ms. Campana is entitled to her opinion. But these are not conservative values. I pray and hope that you think long and hard about who you vote for this fall!
