South Carolina sports reporter arrested for sexual exploitation of minor

WACH sports reporter Matt Vereen has been arrested and charged with three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, according to detectives with the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

The Columbia, S.C., affiliate of Fox said it “understands the seriousness of these allegations and that Vereen has been suspended pending an investigation. Because this is a personnel matter, the station will not be commenting further at this time.”

According to WIS, a Columbia NBC affiliate, Vereen was charged with three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor: two counts of second-degree assault and another count of third-degree assault.

The arrest warrants state that child pornography material featuring an underage girl was found on his Apple laptop during a house search on Wednesday.

Another search warrant says Vereen requested the purchase of a one-minute, 32-second video of an underage girl. A third warrant says he requested another one-minute, 26-second video.
