Man convicted of sex crimes against minor – The Stanly News & Press

The Stanley County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into a sexual assault in April 2021.

On October 15, 2021, George Kevin Helms was charged with multiple sex offenses.

According to the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office, the Stanly County Prosecutor’s Office began presenting the case to a grand jury on August 20, 2024.

On August 26, a jury found Helms guilty of two counts of indecent assault on a child, two counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, and two counts of second-degree exploitation of a minor.

Helms was sentenced to two consecutive prison terms of 58-103 months.
