Borno man, 37, kidnaps Almajiri for sexual exploitation

The Bauchi State Police have arrested Abubakar Talba ‘m, 37, of Hausari Dandal, Borno State, for kidnapping and sodomy.

While responding to a community complaint about his abuse of boys under the guise of running a Quranic school, detectives from the Gamawa Divisional Police Headquarters, led by the Divisional Police Officer, immediately arrested the suspect.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he attended a Quranic school in Fagge. He met one of his victims at BATA area in Fagge LGA. The victim, identified as Masaud Barau, 12 years old, from Gamniya village in Niger Republic, was taken to a Quranic school in Rijiyar Lemo, Kano State. The suspect lured him from Kano to Daura on the pretext of supporting him to start a business. Upon arrival in Daura, the suspect met the second victim, identified as Ibrahim Jabiru ‘m’, 13 years old from Mai Mujiya village in Katsina State, who was taken to a Quranic school at ‘Tsangayar Malam Usman’ in Daura on the pretext of providing capital to start selling touch lights and batteries. From Daura, he moved the two boys to Danbatta where he began abusing one of the boys in a mosque. After spending the night in Danbatta, he travelled to Udubo village in Bauchi State where he continued to assault the victim.

The Bauchi State Police Command, headed by CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, psc, Anipr, will arraign the suspect in court after investigations are concluded. The command is also pleading with members of the public to come forward with any useful information that could help locate the parents or guardians of the victims.
