Former Bills QB who threw 5 interceptions in one half will be fired by Raiders: What we know

Former Buffalo Bills quarterback Nathan Peterman is reportedly set to be released by the Las Vegas Raiders.

Peterman, who was selected by the Bills in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL draft, has spent nearly his entire six-year career as a backup quarterback with Buffalo, Las Vegas and the Chicago Bears.

Las Vegas signed the 30-year-old player to a second stint with the club earlier this month after he was released by New Orleans.

Nathan Peterman had an unfortunate tendency with the Buffalo Bills

Peterman has started just 5 games in his career, four of which came during his two-year stint with the Bills, but his stats show he struggled mightily in Buffalo

He was 1-3 with Buffalo, with 548 yards and three touchdowns, 12 interceptions and two fumbles in eight games.

Nathan Peterman once threw 5 INTs in a Bills game

Peterman’s first start with the Bills was disastrous, tying the NFL record for most interceptions by a quarterback in his playing debut.

With QB Tyrod Taylor struggling in 2017, the Bills turned to Peterman against the Los Angeles Chargers to shake things up. What followed was a nightmare scenario for Peterman and the Buffalo Bills mafia.

Peterman threw five interceptions in the first half — including four in his first nine passes — in a 54-24 drubbing by the Chargers. It was so terrible that the Bills benched Peterman and gave the ball back to Taylor in the second half.

Nathan Peterman also had a hand in an infamous season opener

Somehow, head coach Sean McDermott decided that Peterman would start the 2018 season opener, since Allen was still a rookie. Peterman had apparently won the quarterback competition, which also included AJ McCarron.

Peterman started that game in Baltimore, completing 5 of 18 passes for 24 yards and two interceptions, and that was enough for McDermott. He sent Allen into the game to cap a 47-3 loss. It was the Bills’ worst season-opening loss in team history.
