Fox host arrested on shocking charges

A weekend news anchor and sports reporter for WACH Fox 57 in South Carolina was arrested last Wednesday on suspicion of child pornography and child exploitation.

Matt Vereen has been charged with three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, Trending Politics News reports. According to the arrest warrant, police discovered a photo of a child in “sexually explicit nudity” on his laptop.

The photo showed a young girl who reportedly had her “legs spread.” Her genitals were visible “through a sheer panty,” the arrest warrant said, and her “right nipple is also visible through a white sheer top.”

The 28-year-old was identified through Apple data, Gmail data, ISP data and another blacked-out document.

Vereen attempted to buy a one-minute, 32-second video featuring an underage girl, a second warrant showed. In a third warrant, he attempted to buy another one-minute, 26-second video.

Vereen’s LinkedIn page states that he has been with WACH FOX 57 for almost three years. He previously worked as a news anchor for KOLR, an outlet in Springfield, Missouri.

“Sports reporter Matt Vereen has been arrested and charged with three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, according to investigators with the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force,” WACH FOX 57 said in a statement.

“WACH FOX News understands the seriousness of these allegations and Vereen has been suspended pending an investigation.”

Alvin S. Glenn Bond Court informed Wis10 that Vereen had been given a $40,000 cash bond. The bail conditions stipulate that he cannot use social media outside of work, cannot have personal internet access, and cannot have contact with minors without adult supervision.

If found guilty, Vereen faces up to 30 years in prison.
