Morganton woman arrested on sexual exploitation charges

Starla Paige Stamey, 29, of Ridge Court in Morganton, was arrested by Burke County Sheriff’s deputies on five counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

On August 13, the Sheriff’s Office conducted a joint operation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding the distribution of child pornography. The operation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at Stamey’s residence. After further investigation, Stamey was taken into custody and charged accordingly.

She was given a $125,000 secured bond. An initial appearance in District Court was scheduled for today (Aug. 27) in Morganton.
