Buffalo residents team up for documentary to tell the story of Bills Mafia

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — When it comes to being a Buffalo Bills fan, no one knows better how passionate and heartfelt it is to cheer on our hometown team than the Bills fans themselves.

Now there is a major feature length documentary entitled Just one more before I die is in the works and will tell the story of the Bills mafia from the perspective of some of the team’s most dedicated fans.

Just one more before I die is a title that appeals to a championship-hungry fan base. The film is directed by award-winning filmmakers, die-hard Bills fans, and Buffalo natives Addison Henderson and Kevin Polowy.

Buffalo-born and award-winning filmmakers Kevin Polowy and Addison Henderson are directing and producing a documentary about Bills Mafia titled Just one more before I dieThe feature-length documentary tells the definitive story of Bills fans through the eyes of their most dedicated members.

“I think ultimately we want to tell the definitive story of the Bills Mafia,” Polowy said.

“You spend so much time watching the Bills and rooting for the team and you hope, pray and wish that we get to the Super Bowl and win,” Addison said.

With dreams of winning it all each season, Just One Before I Die documents the highs and lows of life as a Bills fan while also showcasing what the directors consider to be one of the most unique fan bases in the world.

“I think we are the most passionate, I think we are the most tormented given the heartbreaking events that we have been through, I think we are the most ferocious, as evidenced by jumping over tables, and the most charitable, given the countless charitable acts of Bills Mafia,” Polowy said.

The documentary will begin production this fall, with the filmmakers following real-life Bills fans including Pinto Ron, Del Reid and The Chefs, and sharing touching stories from Bills fans across the country.

Kevin Polowy and Addison Henderson are born and raised Buffalo Bills fans who now live in Los Angeles. The two have been good friends for years.

“We follow our characters and they lead us into the game,” Addison said. “We have certain characters that we’re going to watch and follow that week as we explore their lives and do some really cool things. And you know, for us, it’s a way to be innovative in the documentary space.”

Filming of Just one more before I die takes place in Buffalo, Los Angeles and New York City.

No release date has been set for the film yet, but both directors already know how they would like the film to end.

“We would love to win the Super Bowl, but that is of course far from certain,” Polowy said.

“If the Bills win a Super Bowl, I think our movie is done. I think we shoot it, and we make it, and it premieres at Cannes and wins everything,” Henderson said.

Just One Before I Die is created by Buffalo native Clayton Polowy, who will executive produce the film. Famed Irish cinematographer Stephen Gerard Kelly will serve as director of photography. The film will also be produced by Mac Cappuccino; co-producers are Trent Boling and Leah Cohen-Mays.
