Gangs Of Wasseypur returns to theaters on THIS date

The two-part modern classic “Gangs of Wasseypur” will hit theatres again from August 30, director Anurag Kashyap announced on Tuesday.

The 2012 intergenerational revenge saga starred Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role and featured then-budding actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Richa Chadha, Huma Qureshi, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi and Jaideep Ahlawat.

“Gangs of Wasseypur” was critically acclaimed upon its release and was mostly positive. The film was also a commercial success.

Kashyap shared the update on his official Instagram page. “In three days the Gang is back… GOW back in theatres (sic),” he wrote.

When and how to get tickets

According to a poster shared by the filmmaker, “Gangs of Wasseypur” will hit theatres from August 30 to September 5.

About the Gangs of Wasseypur franchise

Set in Wasseypur, a small town near Dhanbad in Jharkhand, the film series tells the story of the coal mafia, spanning three generations of a family involved in crime, extortion and murder.

The first part of “Gangs of Wasseypur”, co-written by Kashyap and Zeishan Quadri, was released on 22 June 2012 and the second part was released on 8 August 2012. The soundtrack was composed by Sneha Khanwalkar and Piyush Mishra, the lyrics were written by Mishra and Varun Grover.

The film was screened in its entirety at the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes in 2012. It was one of the few Hindi films to achieve this feat. The film received overwhelming response at various film festivals around the world.
