Adil became Aman on Instagram to trap a Hindu girl, converted her to Islam and threatened her with death

In another disturbing incident of love jihad from Uttar Pradesh, a young woman from Baghpat has accused a man, identified as Adil from Alipur, of trapping her in a romantic relationship under false pretenses, forcing her to convert religiously and subjecting her to prolonged sexual abuse. The local authorities are now investigating the case, following the victim’s formal complaint to the Superintendent of Police (SP).

The victim woman, a resident of a village in Chandinagar police station area of ​​Baghpat, said she had come in contact with a person using the name Aman on Instagram. However, the man later turned out to be Adil from Alipur in Amroha, who had created a fake Instagram ID under the name Aman. This deception was the starting point for a series of exploitative acts by Adil.

Adil, under the alias Aman, routinely contacted the woman and gradually lured her into a romantic relationship using a false identity. He then proposed her for marriage, manipulating her emotions. The girl from a poor family believed his promises and agreed to meet him, and on August 5, 2023, he brought her to his house in Alipur Dhakka More village in Amroha.

When she reached his village, the woman discovered the truth and realized that she had been the victim of an elaborate love jihad plot. After taking her home, Adil forced the victim to convert her religion to Islam. He and his family then held her captive and began to abuse and assault her regularly.

The woman said she was held captive for almost a year. During this time, she was repeatedly sexually abused by Adil, who kept her in isolation and threatened her life. The victim also alleged that Adil’s two brothers were involved in her sexual harassment. This points to a wider involvement of Adil’s family in her exploitation, which increases the seriousness of the crime.

According to the victim woman, Adil regularly threatened her with a gun and knife, warning her not to reveal his true identity to anyone or the fact that he had forced her to convert her religion. He threatened to slaughter her like an animal if she revealed the details to anyone, she told police.

About 20 days ago, the victim managed to escape from the captivity of Adil and his family. After her escape, she approached the police station in Saidnagali, Amroha and filed a written complaint. However, the police did not take any action. Frustrated by the lack of response, she then went to the SP office on Tuesday, August 28, 2024 and demanded immediate action against the accused.

The woman also posted a video on social media describing her ordeal.

After receiving the victim’s complaint, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajeev Kumar Singh said that an investigation has been initiated based on the allegations. He assured that a formal case (First Information Report or FIR) will be registered and the accused will be arrested soon. SP Kunwar Anupam Singh also told the media that the case has been taken up by the police.
