2024 Next Manga Awards: Kagurabachi and Girl Meets Rock Win 1st Place!

The winners of the Next Manga Awards 2024 were announced today, August 28. Takeru Hokazono‘S “Kagurabachi“claimed first place in the Comics Department (Print Category)while Ideuchi Tetsuo‘S “Girl meets rockbased on the original work of Kuwahalitook first place in the Web Manga Division (Web Manga Category).

COMICS DEPARTMENT:
1st place: Kagurabachi
2nd place: Mairimashita! Iruma-kun: As an episode of the mafia
3rd place: Ogami Tumiki to Kinichijo

Founded in 2014 by Da Vinci and Nico Nico, this manga award is a user-driven competition where readers nominate manga that they think has the potential to be the “next big thing.” From these nominations, the most popular works are selected as nominees, and users then vote to determine the grand prize winner.

Kagurabachi by author Takeru Hokazono, who won the 100th Tezuka Prize in 2020 for his author profile “Hoten”. MANGA plus publishes the manga in English and describes it as follows:

Young Chihiro spends his days training under his famous swordmaker father. One day, he hopes to become a great swordmaker himself. The crazy father and the serious son – they thought these days would last forever. But suddenly tragedy strikes. A dark day drenched in blood. Chihiro and his sword now live only for revenge. Epic sword fighting action!

The manga Girl meets rock! is currently serialized on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ website. While it was previously available in English on MANGA Plus, it has since been removed from the platform.
