Registered sex offender charged with sexual exploitation of a minor

MORGANTON, N.C. – A registered sex offender has been charged with 10 counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to the sheriff’s office, a registered sex offender check was conducted in February and electronics suspected of containing child pornography were seized.

Based on the seized electronics, officers say 60-year-old Tod Cook was charged with 10 counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and was arrested.

Cook was previously arrested in June 2022 for sexual exploitation of a minor and in March 2023 for a parole violation regarding pornographic material.
