We will continue to create corridors of opportunities for the people of Abia, says Otti

Alex Otti, Governor of Abia, says his administration is committed to creating an enabling environment for residents and businesses to thrive.

Otti said this on Tuesday in Umuahia as part of his goodwill message on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the founding of the state.

Abia was founded on August 27, 1991 by Ibrahim Babangida, a former head of state.

The governor said his administration is creating “corridors of opportunities in agriculture and related industries, retail, transportation, petroleum and solid mineral exploration” through infrastructure rehabilitation and expansion projects in rural and urban communities. “Our economic development agenda is solidified on job creation and poverty alleviation,” Otti said.

He also said his administration has made gains in the area of security. “Moreover, communities previously held hostage by criminal gangs have been liberated as a result of our commitment to making Abia a truly safe destination for residents and businesses,” he said.

“We recognize that things have not gone according to plan, following unforeseen economic headwinds that have made planning very difficult for families, businesses and government. Even so, we must refuse to give in to despair, because this current storm will surely pass.”

The governor assured the people of Abia of a better future. “Abia, as we promised, will be great in our lifetime, because we know we have what it takes to do it and we will do it, for ourselves and our children,” he added.
