Special Event NON MAFIA Game: Am I Mafia (a No Effort Mafia spin-off) – (REGISTRATIONS)

I recently had a brilliant idea to run a mafia game. Unfortunately, running a mafia game means that you have to find players to play in that mafia game. In my recent EIMM I found that about 10% of actions were inactive/non-submits (meaning people didn’t submit an action or they just AFKed so hard that I had to modkill them). Since I want a game where no one AFKs and the chance of non-submitting is 0%, I said screw it; I just organize my own mafia game and do with it what I want.

And how about this:

This is a game where you find out if you are a mafia or not when you flip. All you have to do is play the game. If that is too much trouble for you, or if you are unable to meet this requirement, then mafia is not for you (at least for now).

This requires less effort than even the critically acclaimed Bulbagarden No Effort Mafia (which I won by doing absolutely nothing, by the way), which was shamelessly stolen from my home forum of Serenes Forest’s No Effort Mafia, which is notoriously so low-effort that our host quit halfway through and the game is still in a deadlock and unvotable state since 2016. That was also shamelessly stolen from the head of all mafia forums, Mafiascum, whose source material I haven’t even bothered to look up.

And so, Am I a mafia?a game that is 100% not mafia was born

So, what’s the news? In Am I a mafia?you sign up, and then wait for the game to happen with you in it. Eventually it will turn out whether you are in fact mafia. What if you are not mafia? Well, then you are something else.

What is the gameplay gimmick? You sign up for the game and don’t actually have to play it.

But Elieson, if we’re not really in the game, are there any rules? Uh, yeah, I have a few. After all, this isn’t my own forum. I don’t have the money to host my own forum, and I don’t want you to ruin the fun for anyone else or the people who own this forum.

Click below to reveal the rules and mechanics of this game, for they are shrouded in mystery!

It’s absolutely not. I just wanted an excuse to use the ISPOILER feature.

  1. With regard to etiquette and sportsmanship, the general Bulbagarden Forum Rules and the general War Room Rules apply.
  2. You are given the role of PM mainly for your own entertainment.
    1. If you have information that has been revealed to you in your RolePM, you can make it public. It won’t change things, but it can give a little hint as to why and how things happen.
    2. Normally screenshots are not allowed on Bulbagarden, so I will continue to do so here too, so people don’t develop bad habits.
  3. There will be a graveyard and information will be revealed in it. Please do not share information that came from something posted by a Host/MOD
  4. The day and night phases are performed mechanically in the usual way (48/24 hour phases).
    1. During day phases; Every player slot will vote, if possible. Voting updates will occur at regular intervals until someone is lynched.
      1. You don’t have to vote. If you vote, your vote will be ignored.
      2. MYLO/LYLO may be announced.
    2. During the night phases, any night actions are processed based on the whims of the player slots.
      1. If you submit an action, your action submission will be ignored.
      2. If you submit an action on behalf of your partner, it will be ignored.
      3. I built a fully functional engine that performs night actions for all player slots.
  5. You can discuss any point in a thread unless I have a PHASE PAUSEwhere the thread must be kept quiet so as not to disrupt a host/mod’s messages.
    1. Aside from PHASE PAUSE instances, you can post as much as you want in and out of the thread during the game, even if/when you’re dead. I don’t care. It’s not like you’re playing or anything.
  6. I don’t want to organize a game with only 6 registrations. I accept registrations in groups of 12, 18 or 24. No more and no less.
  7. This game is basically a last man standing game, as all factions consist of 2 person teams (well, 1 person + 1 “buddy”).
    1. If you die, but your teammate survives, you win.
    2. It is possible that every player loses, and therefore it is possible that no one wins. This is incredibly unlikely, but it is possible.
  8. Entries are made in increments of 6 (more than 6, as noted above), and each player who enters does so twice.
    1. You can see them as your loyal teammates.
    2. When you sign up, it means you can sign up as yourself, and also with an alias or another non-player. This can be any alias or non-player, but duplicates will not be counted.
      1. Please include a png or jpg photo of your alias with your signup message. I will use them, along with yours (which you don’t need to repost) in flips and/or at the end of the game.
      2. Examples of login messages:
        1. (These are player slots 1 and 2): Sign me up (Elieson) up, with my buddy Manual Escavalier .
        2. (These are player slots 3 and 4): I will (Maniac engineer) join in. Assign my partner as Elly-sen
        3. (This would not be allowed, given previous submissions): /in (DawnWind) of Manual Escavalier as my other half.
    3. If you change your username mid-game, please include your old and new username in the thread and mention the host.
      1. Do not change to another already existing user/alias for the purpose of this game. It is annoying and my engine will not like it very much.
  9. Hosts, MODs and non-players are in no way involved.
  10. Rules can change. The host will make sure you are mentioned if that happens.
  11. Taste comes as it comes, usually only in posts at the beginning/end of a phase.
    1. If you are not happy with the outcome of something, I am sorry.
    2. At the end of the game I will reveal my engine so you can do something like this too, be it on Discord, in a forum post, with yourself, with your IRL friends, with your cat, etc.

And with that I want to summarize what you need to do if you want to become a member.

The game requires 12, 18 or 24 players to register (excluding their friends).

  1. Indicate that you are participating.
  2. In your message, please provide the name of your “partner”. He/she will be a teammate, but will act as a non-controllable NPC in terms of game mechanics.
  3. Give me a photo that I can use for them, which can serve as a profile picture just like yours.

If you want to sign up with a /in, I’ll allow it, but it won’t count until you add a partner/friend/alias and a photo for them. You can use /in as a placeholder, which at least makes it clear to me that you’re participating.

Prepare yourself for the laziest game you’ve ever played.
