K-Electric disconnects power supply to Pakistan Railways offices

K-Electric, the sole power supplier to the port city, on Thursday cut off electricity supply to Pakistan Railways offices due to unpaid bills, ARY News reported.

According to the sources, K-Electric has disconnected electricity supply to the city’s railway station and railway colonies due to unpaid debt of over Rs 200 million.

The power outage is affecting the railways booking office and the engine shed, the sources said, adding that train service will be affected if no more locomotives are brought in from the engine shed.

On August 26, K-Electric, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, carried out successful operations against illegal fire hydrants and water mafia activities in Jahangirabad and Jalalabad.

During these raids, significant theft of power was detected, particularly in the Jalalabad area, where several illegal fire hydrants were found operating on 95 mm underground cables. The operation resulted in the seizure of 450 kilograms of illegal cables, which were used to tap more than 5 Lakh units of electricity in the last six months.

As part of the ongoing “Kunda Removal Campaign”, K-Electric has also set up facilitation camps to provide consumers with convenient services and support. These initiatives are designed to strengthen the integrity of K-Electric’s network, reduce line losses and ensure the protection of consumer interests.
