INDIANA MAN TO SERVE TIME IN JAIL ON FEDERAL DRUG CHARGES

An Indiana man has pleaded guilty in federal court to drug-related crimes.

U.S. Attorney Eric Olshan announced Wednesday that after 42-year-old Lamar Johnson pleaded guilty in court, U.S. District Judge Kim Gibson sentenced him to 60 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release. The charges stem from a period between August 2018 and March of last year, when Johnson conspired with others to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and quantities of heroin and crack cocaine. Federal agents intercepted Johnson on a wiretap obtaining the drugs.

The prosecution is part of an investigation by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces. The mission of the OCDETF is to identify, disrupt and dismantle high-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs and other criminal organizations. Johnson was among those charged in the drug sweep last March as part of “Operation Lake Effect,” which charged 57 people from western Pennsylvania and eight from Washington state.
