Former Gilman School teacher convicted of sexually abusing, cyberstalking boy in Maryland: Feds

Christopher Kenji Bendann40, faces a prison sentence of decades for sexual exploitation of a minor for more than a year.

Prosecutors allege that between September 2017 and February 2019, Bendann made multiple videos of a teenage boy engaging in sexually explicit conduct, which were stored in his iCloud.

The teenager was 16 and 17 years old at the time.

Prosecutors allege that between May and December 2022, Bendann cyberstalked the same victim by sending messages to his phone, demanding that he contact him and take explicit images of him, and threatening to release sexually explicit images if he did not cooperate.

On the day Bendann was arrested in February last year, he was also found to have multiple files containing child pornography on his devices.

Bendann was convicted by a federal jury after a three-day trial on five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor to produce child pornography, one count of cyberstalking and two counts of possession of child pornography.

When sentenced in January, Bendann faces a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum sentence of 30 years on each charge of sexual exploitation of a child to produce child pornography.

He also faces a ten-year prison sentence for possession of child pornography and a maximum of five years in prison for cyberstalking.
