An increase in violent crime linked to the massive influx of illegal immigrants is a frequent concern of Donald Trump and other conservative voices advocating tough border security and immigration laws.

The city of Aurora, Colorado is now the scene of a shocking incident that underscores the need for a swift response to illegal border crossings.

According to Fox News:

Possible gang activity was captured on surveillance camera at a Colorado apartment building after what a former resident described as “no accountability” prevented police from helping.

The video shows several men, armed with handguns and one with a rifle with a scope, breaking through the door of the apartment complex for unknown reasons.

The group appears to be Tren de Aragua, or TdA, a transnational gang based in Venezuela. The gang, which reportedly has 5,000 members, has as its motto “really until the death,” or “really hasta la muerte.”

According to a report from the New York Post, TdA has now been linked to more than 100 crimes across the country.

At least one elected official in the city is speaking out forcefully against the disturbing trend, the Daily Wire reports:

Denver’s sanctuary city policies have been blamed for a migrant crisis that has spilled over into the suburbs, fueling a rise in violent crime and sex trafficking. The Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua, has even taken control of apartment complexes in the city, said Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky.

“We have entire complexes under gang control right now — complexes where staff have been beaten up, they’ve been threatened, their families have been threatened (and) complexes where there are no staff left on the premises. These complexes are run by this Tren de Aragua gang,” Jurinsky said.

“They start brokering apartments themselves when someone leaves out of fear or something. They go in and take pictures of the apartment themselves,” she continued. “Then, I’m told, within a few hours a Venezuelan family moves in.”
