Colorado Democratic Governor Jared Polis dismissed outrage over a clip showing what appeared to be armed Venezuelan gangs in an apartment as “imaginary,” despite substantial evidence.

Aurora City Council Member Danielle Jurinsky responded to Governor Denial by saying, “I am so disappointed.”

Shelby Wieman, a spokeswoman for Polis, told the New York Post that “the governor has already informed the mayor that the state stands ready to assist local law enforcement if needed with the help of state troopers or the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.”

Wieman added: “According to police information, this alleged invasion was largely the product of Danielle Jurinsky’s imagination.”

Danielle Jurinsky, a city councilwoman, is at the forefront of this problem, having evacuated several residents from an apartment building occupied by armed gangs on Wednesday.

In an exclusive interview with Polis, Jurinsky responded: “My question to the governor is, is this also a figment of the Romero imagination?” “And the other resident that I helped get out, and the others that I’m going to get out of there?”

Shelby Wieman, the governor’s spokeswoman, responded by saying, “(Governor Polis) hopes that city council members who are responsible for the safety of their city will stop destroying it.”

Wieman said: “We are confident that the data through 2024 will show further declines in violent crime. The recent disinformation campaign could harm the small business climate and threaten actual criminal investigations.”

According to the New York Post, more than 40,000 immigrants have settled in the Denver area since December 2022.

Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman said in a statement that “the situation is real, but it must be put into context so as not to negatively impact the reputation of a city of over 400,000 residents by what happened in isolated apartment buildings owned and operated by the same out-of-state slumlord.”

Danielle Jurinsky said, “There are people behind this case and they are just playing politics.” “That is so sad because these are real people just like Romeros who live behind four bars and a door and live in fear every day in these complexes.”

Jurinsky said: “It’s very encouraging that people all over the world are seeing what’s happening.” “Only our governor of Colorado can challenge the video footage.” “Everyone in the United States can see this video footage.”
