Larchwood man arrested, accused of sexual exploitation of minor – Theforgegastown

Larchwood, Iowa — A Larchwood man has been arrested for sexual exploitation of a minor.

Roberto Escobar, 25, of Larchwood, is accused of distributing videos of a minor engaging in sexual activity, according to a complaint filed with the Lyon County Clerk of Court by the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI). He was arrested Tuesday.

In his sworn statement, the DCI agent alleges that Escobar knowingly distributed two videos that depicted a minor engaging in sexual acts with an adult. He alleges that the files were distributed through Escobar’s Google account and that they were sent over his home internet connection. The DCI agent alleges that the activity was reported by Google to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Escobar was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, a class D felony. If convicted, Escobar faces up to five years in prison.

He is due to appear in court for the first time on September 17.

Escobar was booked into the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids and was released Tuesday after posting $5,000 cash or surety bond.
