UK’s best-selling games list confirms some key rules

We are almost at the end of the week and here finally is the usual ranking of the best-selling games in the United Kingdom. This one is considerably later than usual, but contains few surprises. We can say that it confirms some fundamental rules of the country and the video game market.

The fact that it arrived on a Friday night is pretty much the biggest news on this list. Last week’s best-selling game was once again EA Sports FC 24, with EA’s football simulation, despite the name change, still the undisputed king of the video game market in the UK, as well as several other countries on the Old Continent.

The undisputed rule number one is therefore that football remains the biggest passion in the UK and beyond, something which is of course also clearly reflected in the tastes of gamers.

Very few new entries in the rankings

The week ending August 24th brought no significant news. As usual, Super Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was in second place, confirming the rules of the market once again.

Let’s take a look at the top ten best-selling games in the UK last week:

EA Sport FC 24
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition
Football Manager 2024
Mafia trilogy
Mortal Kombat-1
F1 24
Minecraft
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Hogwarts Legacy falls just outside the top 10, at number 11. There is no real big news in this ranking, however. There is a general shuffling of positions, mainly due to discounts or some comebacks, such as that of Mafia Trilogy, which was also fueled by the announcement of the new chapter Mafia: The Old Country.
