Summary

HII-Mission Technologies is looking for an experienced Curriculum Developer/Teacher (Remote/Part-time) with DOD experience, in support of the Defense Institute of International Legal Studies (DIILS). The selected candidate will adapt and develop training curricula for a more adult-focused, centered, and experiential instructional model, to facilitate the delivery of more customized and effective training curriculum for the DIILS program, headquartered in Newport, RI! The position is remote and part-time, with occasional CONUS and/or OCONUS travel. Join our growing team today!

What you are going to do

  • Manage customer software inventory and network license information
  • Providing training in support of DIILS
  • Provide legal subject matter expertise and pedagogical expertise in curriculum and instructional design for adult education in preparing, adapting, developing and/or delivering curriculum modules with a potential focus on the application of human rights law, laws of war, rule of law, cybersecurity and international rights and obligations relevant to the air, border and maritime domains, in consultation and coordination with relevant personnel.
    • This includes associated supporting content, learning objectives, desired outcomes, success measures, and instructor notes and guidelines that are derived from, informed by, and consistent with the substantive content of the existing government-provided curriculum approved by the DoD General Counsel.
  • Begin curriculum development as a member of the team. Curriculum development can be done in coordination with other designated personnel assigned
  • Provide a weekly status report via email updating the progress of curriculum development
  • Produce a written draft of an After Action Report (AAR) identifying the outcomes achieved from curriculum development, in line with formal and informal feedback
  • Participate in a final work product review and briefing
  • Become familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of electronic media, local area networks and associated accessories
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by government leaders
  • Additional duties as assigned or required

What we are looking for

  • 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 7 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree in a related field; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD or Doctorate in Law in a related field
  • Knowledge of international human rights law, the law of war and current rule of law issues, cyber security and international rights and obligations relevant to the air, border and maritime domains
  • Knowledge of the application of international and national law to military and law enforcement operations
  • Must have experience researching and writing on proposed topics
  • Ability to communicate multifaceted issues effectively, discuss complex problems, perform analysis and recommend solutions
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented educational environment
  • Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance

Bonus points for…

  • 5 years of experience in applying international and national law to military and law enforcement operations
  • 5 years of experience in applying international and national law to maritime operations and/or the maritime domain
  • Experience writing for an international audience similar in size and composition to those expected for DIILS events
  • Recent and relevant international teaching and research experience in the field of international human rights law, the law of war and the rule of law (experience in the past two years)

Physical requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, marine or laboratory environment. Ability to climb ladders and handle confined spaces and extreme temperature changes.
