Colorado governor shifts blame but admits violent Venezuelan gang took over apartments

Colorado Democratic Governor Jared Polis has abruptly changed his stance on a violent Venezuelan gang that has taken over apartment complexes in a Denver suburb.

Shocking videos of the heavily armed foreign criminals of the notorious Tren de Aragua, a group so extreme they have been described as “MS-13 on steroids,” went viral on social media and have since made national headlines, a very serious problem that has been downplayed by Polis’ office.

Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky raised the alarm about the criminal gang when she personally helped a couple move out of their apartment building, which had become too dangerous to live in. Instead of concern, she received an insult from a Polis Spockey who said she was imagining things.

Spokesperson Shelby Wieman told the New York Post that “police intelligence indicates that this alleged invasion is largely the imagination of Danielle Jurinsky,” a statement the councilman said was “disappointing” given the ample video evidence available.

The governor appeared on CNN on Friday and continued to engage in politics, passing the buck to the police and Republicans in Aurora’s local government.

But now that the apartment takeovers are in the national news, Polis appears to have changed his mind and is fully engaged in damage control, according to a statement on social media.

“Colorado is a zero tolerance state for illegal activity, building takeovers have no place in Colorado, and I am confident the City of Aurora shares this core value and will enforce the law if it is broken there. I urge them to do so swiftly and thoroughly,” he wrote on Facebook.

“Over the past month, I have been in regular contact with the City of Aurora and the Aurora Police Department and have offered all possible state assistance to support their efforts if requested. The state has been prepared for weeks to support any Aurora Police Department operation necessary to make Aurora safer,” the governor said.

Cindy Romero, one of the residents Jurinsky helped relocate, slammed Gov. Polis during an appearance on Fox News on Friday. “You can’t make a fake video and Polis wouldn’t last five minutes on that property,” she said.

“They don’t want to admit that they are part of the problem. It’s the government that we rely on to make the rules for us, to make the guidelines that we follow. I call 911. No help comes for me. No help,” she said.

“There’s no crowd, no police showing up to make sure we’re defended. No one showed up to help me. I didn’t have a bulletproof vest. There weren’t five officers coming with me if there was a problem. We were on our own and we were left to fend for ourselves,” Romero told the outlet.

Meanwhile, Aurora has declared the gangs a “criminal nuisance,” allowing city officials to seek emergency evictions through the courts to get the criminals out of the complexes.

“This requires a municipal judge to issue an injunction aimed at getting these properties back under the control of the owners,” said Mayor Mike Coffman, who recently blamed the Biden-Harris administration for the gang occupation of the apartments.

“In the meantime, the law enforcement unit created to disrupt and arrest Venezuelan gang members in these buildings will continue its activities,” the mayor added in a social media post.

The problems in the Mile High City are not good for Democratic candidate and “border czar” Kamala Harris, who has lied to Americans over the past month by saying she has made a complete turnaround and is tougher on illegal immigration than Trump.
