Child ‘life coach’ found in car with naked boy, now headed to jail

A 32-year-old who describes himself as a life coach for children and who was found sleeping in a parked car with a naked 12-year-old boy was sentenced to 29 years in prison on Thursday.

The car was found by Thornton Police Department officers in June 2022, parked in front of a restaurant.

Frank Raymond was arrested at the scene, but it took several months for Thornton detectives to fully solve the case.

The 12-year-old boy described Raymond as his “life coach,” according to a press release from the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. He denied that there was a sexual relationship between them.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for Raymond’s phone and found evidence to the contrary: videos showing Raymond performing sexual acts on the 12-year-old boy.

More evidence – “thousands of files containing child sexual abuse material,” the prosecution said – was found in a cloud storage account.

Raymond pleaded guilty in late May to assault, attempted assault of a child and sexual exploitation. In return, prosecutors dropped 21 other felony charges that had been filed against him.

Raymond posed as a child coach, play therapist and mentor and used the name Arya Magi online and on social media.

“This was an outrageous and horrific crime,” said District Attorney Brian Mason. “Sexual abuse of a child is outrageous. This defendant abused a young boy under the guise of a mentor and life coach. The boy trusted this defendant and he then harmed this young child in a profound and profound way. If the Thornton Police Department had not conducted a thorough and exhaustive investigation, this defendant would still be abusing other children. I am grateful for their work and the work of my DA Office team to secure this conviction and sentence. With this significant sentence for the Department of Corrections, this defendant will not be able to harm another child for a long time to come.”
