Downtown Headbanger’s Glow Parade on September 7

Remember the Bangin’ Music of the ’80s? Mullets? Oversized shoulders, earrings, hairdos and multiple bracelets? The TV show Headbanger’s Ball? Well, the Department of Fun has added a creative themed twist… to their third lighted parade and event: “Glow Banger’s Ball.”

Come to downtown Morrison, IL on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Streets will be closed to public walking to businesses and booths at approximately 6:00 PM. The 80s themed band “Big Hair Mafia” will perform at 7:00 PM. As the night grows dark around 8:00 PM, the Glow Parade will make its way down Main Street.

The audience is encouraged to dress in the 80s, wear a matching wig or increase the volume of your long hair. Join in the communal, community fun.

To enter/leave a vehicle must “enchant with lights.” This can be glow sticks; neon; battery-operated or plug-in light strings. Check out photos from previous Glow Parades.

Facebook message Department of Fun; include your name and the type of vehicle. It could be a full-size car or riding lawn mower; tractor; unicycle, bicycle or tricycle; scooter or skid loader; ATV or covered wagon.

The suggested donation is $5; children enter free.

Prizes will be awarded for the best mullet and creativity.
